Windsor is northern Sonoma County's most family-oriented town, built around an actual town green: a 4.5-acre park where the Thursday night concerts, Sunday farmers market, and community events all happen. It sits between Santa Rosa and Healdsburg off the 101, with some of the county's newest housing and one of its strongest senses of small-town civic life. Why people love it
Windsor was planned around its Town Green, and it works: concerts, the farmers market, festivals, and casual family nights all happen under the oaks on the same lawn. It is the rare suburb that was designed around a public square.
A large share of Windsor's homes were built from the 1980s onward, including several planned communities with parks and trails. Buyers who want modern floor plans without the wine-country premium look here first.
Windsor is 15 minutes from Santa Rosa's jobs, shopping, and hospital, and 10 minutes from Healdsburg's plaza and the three wine valleys. You get the commute-friendly position and the weekend wine-country life.
Beyond the Green, Windsor has Keiser Park and a community-built sports complex, plus Shiloh Ranch, Riverfront, and Foothill regional parks all within a short drive.
